After a run-out this morning, trainer Paul Nicholls reported that Kauto Star is “as good as ever” in the run up to him attempting to win the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Saturday for a historic fifth time.
In addition the champion trainer suggested that the ground at Kempton, this weekend (which is expected to be testing), will also play into the 11-year-old’s hands.
That really is ominous news for Kauto’s rivals!
Personally, I think he’ll win. Whilst, there are some very good young chasers in the field for the showpiece event, the old warrior is in a completely different league. A quick look at the ratings shows just how much he has in hand – and that’s not forgetting that he loves the track, will handle the ground, has a top jockey on board and has the experience of winning this race an incredible four times already.
In my mind, it’s not whether he will win but by how much!
Lump on at the current price. Even at 8/11 (Best price currently) he represents excellent value – as we say at Inside Gambler…. it’s good money!
